Students of Rishikesh Yog Kendra

Not everyone can travel to India for a month, and you should not have to put your training on hold because of it. The Online 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Rishikesh Yog Kendra brings the same traditional teaching to you wherever you are, through live classes with our Rishikesh-based teachers over one month. You learn from home, at a steady pace, without giving up the depth or the personal guidance of an in-person course.

This is a live online training, not a set of pre-recorded videos. You join real classes, ask questions, receive corrections, and learn alongside other students, much as you would in a classroom. Every session is also recorded and yours to keep, so you can revisit the material, and with lifetime access to the course you can return to it whenever you like.

Over the month you build a genuine foundation in traditional yoga: Hatha and Vinyasa asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and the teaching skills that turn practice into the ability to guide a class. The course is registered with Yoga Alliance, so graduates can apply for the internationally recognised RYT 200 credential, and it also carries YACEP credits for continuing education.

It suits people who cannot travel, who prefer to learn at home, or who want to begin their teaching journey around work and family. Groups are kept manageable, so you are known and supported rather than lost in a large webinar. Taught by experienced Indian teachers from the home of yoga, the online course keeps the tradition and the personal attention while removing the need to be there in person.

If you want a flexible, affordable and genuinely taught Online Yoga Teacher Training that leads to a recognised qualification, this 200 hour course is built to give you exactly that.

The Course

The online course covers the same foundation as an in-person 200 hour training, delivered in a way that fits around your life. Rather than a month abroad, it runs over one month of live online classes, so you can keep working, studying or caring for your family while you train.

Pranayama and meditation on the online course
Live, Not Recorded

Because the classes are live, the course keeps what matters most about learning yoga: real teaching, real questions, and real corrections. You practise with your teacher watching, not alone in front of a video, and you learn alongside other students. Each session is recorded, and with lifetime access you can go back over any class, at any time, for as long as you like.

Across the month you cover:

  • Traditional Hatha and Vinyasa asana, with alignment and guidance.
  • Pranayama and the science of the breath.
  • Meditation and mantra.
  • Yoga philosophy, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
  • Anatomy and physiology, physical and subtle.
  • Teaching methodology, sequencing and practice teaching.

Where It Leads

The course is registered with Yoga Alliance, so on completion, you can apply to register as an RYT 200, and it also carries YACEP credits. At a fee of USD 300, it is an accessible way to earn a recognised qualification. By the end, you have a genuine foundation in traditional yoga and the confidence to teach, built entirely from home.

Before You Enrol

Is This Online Yoga Teacher Training Right for You?

This course suits people who cannot travel to India, who prefer to learn from home, or who need to train around work and family. It fits complete beginners starting their journey toward the RYT 200 credential, and existing teachers looking for continuing education through YACEP credits. No prior teaching experience is required, and it is taught live so you are supported throughout.

Learning online asks for a little self-discipline, so it helps to know whether it fits you before you enrol. The short answer is that it is built for people who want a serious, recognised training without leaving home.

This course is likely a good fit if you recognise yourself in any of these:

  • You cannot travel right now

Time, cost or commitments make a month in India difficult, but you still want a proper 200 hour foundation and a recognised qualification.

  • You prefer to learn from home

You would rather study in your own space and at a steadier pace than an intensive residential month.

  • You are fitting training around life

Work, study or family mean you need a course that spreads gently across the month rather than demanding a full month away.

  • You are an existing teacher

You already teach and want to deepen your knowledge and earn YACEP continuing-education credits.

The classes are live and taught in English, so you can follow along and ask questions in real time wherever you are. Because the group is kept manageable, you receive personal attention rather than being one of hundreds in a webinar.

If a flexible, guided and genuinely taught online training is what you are looking for, this course is very likely a strong fit.

What You Learn

What Do You Learn in an Online 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training?

You learn asana, pranayama, mudras and bandhas, mantra chanting, meditation and relaxation, applied yoga philosophy and psychology, anatomy and physiology, and teaching methodology. The course develops both your personal practice and your ability to teach, delivered through live online classes over one month and leading to the RYT 200 credential.

The course follows the same core curriculum as our in-person training, taught live and in a clear order so each area supports the next. The subjects below form the heart of what you study.

CoreThe Eight Subjects of the Course
  1. Asana

You work through a wide repertoire of postures, well over a hundred across the course, from the traditional Hatha series to flowing sequences, always with attention to alignment. You learn not only how to perform each asana but how to teach and adjust it safely.

  2. Pranayama

You learn the science of prana and a range of breathing techniques, along with the theory behind them and how to prepare the body and practise them safely.

  3. Mudras and Bandhas

These are the subtle tools of yoga, and the course treats them as their own subject: Mudras, the yogic gestures, which work gently with the flow of energy in the body and mind; and Bandhas, the energy locks, which direct and contain prana at a deeper level. You learn what they are, how to practise them, and how they support meditation and the wider practice.

  4. Mantra Chanting

Under the theme of the intonation of sound for higher consciousness, you learn what a mantra is and how its sound and vibration are used to steady and uplift the mind. Through regular chanting you come to feel the practice, not only understand it, and you learn to use it to open and settle a class.

  5. Meditation and Relaxation

You are guided from concentration toward meditation, with practical techniques to quieten the mind, alongside relaxation practices that release tension and restore calm.

  6. Applied Yoga Philosophy and Psychology

You study the philosophy of yoga and how it applies to daily life and to the mind, including the roots of the tradition and the essentials of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Taught this way, philosophy becomes practical rather than abstract, shaping how you practise and teach.

  7. Anatomy and Physiology

You study the body well enough to keep your students safe, covering how it moves and where care is needed, so you can sequence classes intelligently and teach responsibly.

  8. Teaching Methodology

You learn to structure and sequence a class, give clear instructions, and practise teaching, so you finish able to lead a class with confidence rather than only take one.

Delivery

How Are the Online 200 Hour YTTC Classes Delivered?

The course is delivered through live online classes over one month, so you learn in real time with your teacher and fellow students. Every session is recorded and added to your account, and with lifetime access you can revisit any class whenever you like. You need only a stable internet connection, a device, and space at home to practise.

Because the training is live, your days have structure and support rather than being left entirely to you. You join scheduled classes, practise with your teacher watching, ask questions, and receive feedback, including on your own practice teaching. If you miss a session or want to review something, the recording is always there.

To take part, you need a reliable internet connection, a laptop, tablet or phone, and enough space at home to lay out a mat and move freely. Nothing specialised is required. Class timings are shared before you begin so you can plan around them.

Certification

Is the Online 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Yoga Alliance Certified?

Yes. Our 200 hour online yoga teacher training is eligible for Yoga Alliance certification, as long as you complete it through a school that is actively registered as a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS). Yoga Alliance applies a few clear conditions to online training:

  1. Live (synchronous) hours

At least 15% of the 200 hours must be delivered live and in real time, where you and your teachers interact together in a virtual space, rather than through recordings alone.

  2. A currently registered school

The school must hold a valid RYS 200 credential with Yoga Alliance at the time you graduate.

  3. The same standards as in person

The online curriculum must cover the same core educational categories as an in-person training, including techniques and practice, teaching methodology, anatomy, philosophy and practicum.

  4. How our course meets them

Our course is built to meet these conditions. It is taught through live classes, well beyond the minimum required, by a Yoga Alliance registered school, and it follows the full 200 hour curriculum used in our in-person training. That is what allows graduates to register as an RYT 200 on the same footing as students who train with us in Rishikesh.

  5. YACEP credits for existing teachers

The course also carries YACEP credits, which are valuable if you already hold a Yoga Alliance registration and are continuing your professional education. In that way, it serves both new teachers working toward RYT 200 and existing teachers building on their qualifications.

For anyone who cannot travel, this is the practical value of the course: a recognised, internationally understood teaching qualification, earned entirely from home.

Learn from Certified Yoga Instructors

For an online course, who is behind it is the question that matters most — a great deal of what is sold online is a set of videos with nobody attached. These are the same instructors who teach our residential trainings on the campus in Tapovan: certified teachers with years behind them, both in their own practice and in the classroom, each with real depth in their subject. They guide you through the course and give personal feedback along the way. Meet them below.

“Rishikesh is full of Yoga centers, but in this crowd of Yoga institutes, I feel extremely fortunate to have found ‘Rishikesh Yoga Kendra’. Ms Neha Thakur provided me with timings and location suitable to me, and also personalized training. From the first day itself, I was exposed to very professional communication, and customized yoga sessions. The faculty has ensured that I fall in love with Yoga, Pranayam, and Ive decided to increase the duration of the Yoga sessions. The Sanskrit prayers and the theory sessions ensure that the concept behind each Asana is understood by me. For those who plan to visit Rishikesh to learn Yoga, I would highly recommend Rishikesh Yoga Kendra. You will get your solution here.”
